Drake’s presence reportedly influenced the party’s music selection, as TMZ now reports that no Kendrick Lamar tracks were played throughout the night. Despite various DJs taking turns at the booth, none opted to play Kendrick Lamar’s music amidst the ongoing feud between Drake and the Los Angeles-born rapper.

There was said to be a number of different people manning the DJ booth throughout the night, though no one would play anything from Kendrick Lamar amid Drake's feud with the Los Angeles-born rapper

Several of Drake’s close friends also attended, including Migos rapper Quavo, Lil Wayne, and Travis Scott, all of whom are in good terms with Drake.

The main DJ at the event, reportedly part of Scott’s crew and friendly with Drake, contributed to the absence of Kendrick’s songs being played.

Drake and Kendrick Lamar, both renowned figures in the rap scene, have had a competitive relationship spanning over a decade. Despite Kendrick previously opening for Drake, tensions escalated when Kendrick dissed Drake and others in Big Sean’s 2013 song “Control.” Kendrick later characterized it as friendly competition, and both artists have minimized reports of any feud over the years.

The situation changed in March 2024 with Drake’s release of “First Person Shooter” featuring J. Cole, where he referred to himself, Cole, and Kendrick as the “big three” in rap. Kendrick responded with his own track, “Like That,” featuring Metro Boomin and Future, where he dismissively rapped about the “big three” concept.

Their rivalry intensified with diss tracks like “Not Like Us,” where Kendrick accused Drake of serious allegations. Kendrick made headlines recently at a Juneteenth concert where he performed “Not Like Us” multiple times and made a statement by bringing together members of the Bloods and Crips gangs onstage.

Despite the ongoing tension, Rick Ross appeared unfazed during his time in Canada, as seen in an Instagram story where he posed in front of his Rick Ross branded private jet, expressing his enjoyment of Vancouver. The photos also showed him enjoying champagne and lunch with his entourage.
