At the inaugural fundraiser of Support + Feed in Los Angeles, Billie Eilish, Finneas O’Connell, and Janelle Monáe were presented with the Inspiration Awards. Support + Feed, a plant-based food initiative, was founded by Billie (21), a passionate vegan advocate, along with her brother Finneas (26) and their mother, Maggie Baird.

The event served as a convergence point for activists, artists, and philanthropists, addressing topics such as the climate crisis, environmental concerns, and sustainability. 

Service: 'I am a child of service. I remember what it was like not to have food on the table. What is it like what it was like for Thanksgiving and Christmas, to have to get canned goods from your church, or the Salvation Army, or an aunt or your grandmother - I remember that,' Janelle said

Baird expressed gratitude to the attendees, acknowledging the positive impact of various community organizations, volunteers, and companies contributing to positive change.

Amidst the current conflicts, she emphasized the importance of celebrating moments of light and positivity. Janelle Monáe (37) and environmental activist Isaias Hernandez were also honored with Inspiration Awards. Monáe shared an emotional account of her upbringing, highlighting the influence of her family’s commitment to serving the less fortunate in their community.

Following the award presentation, Finneas reflected on the organization’s founding, acknowledging the financial contributions and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to support meaningful causes. He recounted the inception of the idea during the pɑndemic, driven by a desire to support vegan restaurants in L.A. and provide meals to hospital workers.

Honoree: 'I remember the stigma of what it was to be poor and how we treated poor people. I remember being embarrassed using my mother's EBT card… and so all I've wanted to do and what I wanted to do with Support + Feed and with Wondalunch, is to erase that narrative,' Janelle said in an emotional speech

Billie, when taking the stage, paid tribute to her mother, expressing admiration and pride for her impactful initiatives.

Speech: 'Here's what actually happened: Billie and I made a bunch of music in our bedroom. We got rich and we paid off our mom's mortgage and she turned around and started a non-profit immediately,' Finneas said

 She commended her mother’s extraordinary work and the global support it has garnered, underlining the incredible achievements of Support + Feed. The singer concluded by expressing her profound pride in her mother’s accomplishments.
